Project Brief
As a part of my self-directed project, I designed a "Cat Quotes" book that features 8 quotes about cats and my illustration using Sumi-e/ Suiboku-ga technic.
Sumi-e(墨絵) / Suiboku-ga(水墨画)
These cats were painted with Sumi ink and Japanese paper, known as Sumi-e or suiboku-ga. The blurring effect is unique and beautiful. With oil or acrylic paint you can make corrections along the way, but not with this method—it's hard to control the colour and strokes but I enjoyed those unexpected results.
