Hello! I'm Midori, a graphic designer and illustrator originally from Tokyo, Japan and currently located in Vancouver. I have called the Pacific North West home for the past 6 years. My work is inspired by the beautiful nature here in British Columbia and the Japanese style.
I'm passionate about both digital and analog visual creations. After completing my fine art degree, majoring in oil painting in Japan, I moved to Vancouver to work on my English skills and while in Canada, discovered a new interest in Graphic Design. Although the process in art and design is totally different, I find that my foundation skills in fine art definitely provide me with a solid basis for my graphic design projects, especially at the beginning of the project, when I make many thumbnail sketches. I think the mix of traditional painting sensibility and graphic design techniques gives my designs a unique twist.
I'm often working on multiple design projects but when I'm not doing that, I often do cooking mostly Japanese meals, take care of my plants and play with a cat in my place.
